a natural

i've been doing a lot of talking lately about signing brooke up for spring soccer, and every time i bring it up gavin asks me when i'm going to sign him up for soccer???  lucky for me some friends passed along some information, and i was able to get gavin signed up!  today was gavin's first "practice" with coach russell.  it was a little chilly out, and coach russell worked them pretty hard for 45 whole minutes.  he had them running all over the field playing fun games.  i had so much fun watching gavin at his first group sport experience.  he is such a natural.  he loved coach russell and loved playing soccer, but he sure was worn out by the time it was over :)  i know nothing about soccer, but i know i love watching both my kids play the sport.

easter (better late than never)

we had so much fun this easter that it was hard narrowing down which pictures to post!  i was terribly sick for 24 hours on good friday, but i forced myself out of bed so the kids could paint easter eggs.  they each had a dozen eggs to paint, and they loved every minute of it.  on saturday i was feeling much better, and we took the kids to an easter egg hunt in montgomery with heather, danny, stella & terry.  it was fun to see the kids racing around to find eggs.  they were really into it!  initially we didn't have much planned for sunday except going to church, but our plans morphed at the last minute into a beautiful day spent with half of the family.  heather, danny, stella and mom joined us for church and brunch afterwards at nectar.  then we all came back to our house and had a super chill, relaxing afternoon watching golf and letting the kids enjoy all of their easter goodies.  we capped the holiday weekend off with a "texas-style" easter egg hunt at our neighbor's - pete & claire's.  i had no idea what we were in for, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of easter.  a "texas-style" egg is a hallowed out egg filled with confetti and wrapped in tissue paper.  the idea is you smash the egg over someone's head and lots of fun ensues!  i adore the pictures of me and gavin that heather snapped.  who knew cracking an egg over someone's head could be so much fun!?!
